A Girls Night Amongst Butterflies (#1) August 2011
Our First fundraiser started with an idea from our friend Cathy, she was going to have a fashion parade for her clothing from her Charnelle Collection. As we spoke about the night the ideas grew, from a small fashion parade to a wonderful evening filled with Fashion, Dance, Raffles, Auctions, and over 300 women.
We couldn’t have done it without our good friends and especially the Phillips family, who had been with us most of the last 7 years, whenever we needed them they were there for our whole family. Cathy organised all of the entertainment for the night and oversaw most of the organisation. Jeff designed our gorgeous tickets and flyers and the stage for the models, Morgan was one of the beautiful models and helped us with the organisation and throughout the night as did many of our friends.
We weren’t sure if many people would come but when tickets went on sale for ‘A Girls Night Amongst Butterflies’ we sold out very fast. It was only 4 months after we had lost Mason, which was hard but it was such a beautiful night filled with Love, Emotion, tears and so much support. We had been very fortunate to have had many people and businesses donate some beautiful items for our raffle and silent auctions and that helped make it a very successful night.
The beautiful talented dancers all donate their time to entertain the guests, the fashion models also gave their time, the hair and make-up was donated by Beyond Beautiful Style Lounge in McLaren Vale, who had never heard of our family but jumped on board and have continued to support our fund in so many ways. Tarot readers, massage therapist, also donated their time on the evening. We drank wines from Oxenberry Farm and Scarpantoni Wines, and pizza from All Fired Up Pizza’s.
The night was a huge success, with standing room only throughout the Institute Hall in the Main street in McLaren Vale and after all the guests left we were left numb and stunned that we just had our first successful fundraiser and raised over $22,000.00, it was an unbelievably proud feeling and we were speechless.
We were able to start to organise the making of the first trial Masonette Cupboard, thanks to 300+ ladies who came to join us in August 2011 for our first ever fundraiser.
